Universiti Sultan Sharif Ali Library was established on 11 Zukhijjah 1427 / 1st January 2007 with the consent of His Majesty Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang DiPertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam. At the early stage of the establishment of UNISSA, a small resource room was set up to house a small collection of resources to cater for the needs of the academic staff and students. Due to the limitation of space to set up its own library and lack of Library staff to properly run the resource room, UNISSA shared the facilities and services of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam Library temporarily.
UNISSA Library moved to its new premise at the former Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah College of Nursing library on 7 Rejab 1430 / 30 June 2009. The Library consists of three floors. One of the former librarians of the Nursing College was seconded to set up the library with the help of several UNISSA staff. On 1st August 2009, three staff from the UBD Library were seconded to develop the UNISSA Library.
The Library is fully equipped with a library automation system under the VILIS project spearheaded by The Ministry of Education, Negara Brunei Darussalam.
