Background
The Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Faculty of Law (SHHBFoL) was established on September 13, 2023, by the Order of His Majesty, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam during the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University 13th Haflut Takharruj, which was held on 13th Safar 1445H/30th August 2023.
The establishment of the Faculty of Law is aimed at enhancing the quality of legal education and training and increasing efficiency. The Faculty of Law provides specific modules and courses that are comprehensive and contemporary too. Our primary goal is to produce high-quality graduates of international standard. The Faculty of Law offers advanced studies in both Shariah and civil law, providing a pathway to produce legal practitioners who are knowledgeable and trained as experts in both Shariah and civil law. The programmes offered by the Faculty are infused with in-depth critical legal education, which provides a range of opportunities for our students to acquire hands-on experience for their legal and vocational development.
Objective
1. Strive towards becoming a centre of excellence in legal education and training at national, regional, and international levels.
2. Produce law graduates with the requisite competence in common law and Syariah, essential legal knowledge, and practical skills to confront contemporary legal, economic, and social challenges.
3. Provide a conducive environment that enables effective legal education and learning for students, under the supervision and mentorship of qualified and specialised teaching staff and with effective teaching methods and infrastructural facilities.
4. Promote specialisation, comparative, and multidisciplinary research in our postgraduate studies.
5. Sustain the good reputation of the faculty and its modestly recognised international quality standards.
6. Attract and maintain qualified, specialised, highly motivated teaching staff to supervise and mentor our students in acquiring quality legal education, the development of ethical standards, and good character.

To educate, promote, and produce well-cultured, morally upright graduates of sound character equipped with useful skills in the field of law to deal with new emerging legal problems and contribute to the development of the Ummah and humanity through academic excellence, research, and community services.
