Background
The Faculty of Shariah and Law was established in 2007, by the consent and announcement made by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Chancellor of UNISSA. The university was founded as a centre of scholarly excellence to sustain and support the country in upholding Islam through education.
Objectives
- To produce graduates who are capable and knowledgeable in the fields of Shariah and judiciary, which include ‘ibadah, mu’amalat, munakahat, jinayat and comparative laws.
- To produce graduates who are competent and able to solve problems related to the society and country, especially pertaining to Islamic matters.
- To equip graduates with knowledge of Islam and to cultivate their personalities with Islamic principles.
- To produce experts in the fields of Shariah and Judiciary as judges in Shariah courts, registrars, Syar’i lawyers and others related to the Islamic law.
