HALAL SCIENCE STUDENTS LEFT TO PARTICIPATE IN PRACTICAL STUDY ABROAD UNDER THE OSAKA UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (HALAL, SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY) (OUICP-HaSTI)

Wednesday, 31 January 2024 – A total of seven UNISSA students have left for Osaka, Japan to participate in practical study abroad under The Osaka University International Certificate Program (Halal, Science and Technology) (OUICP-HaSTi). The student is a student taking a Master of Halal Science and they will be in Osaka, Japan for 65 days. This program is a collaboration between Osaka University through the ASEAN Campus and several institutions of higher education in Brunei Darussalam including Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University.

Present to wish you a good sailing at Brunei International Airport is Pengiran Dr Hajah Norkhairiah Pengiran Haji Hashim, Director at the Halal Research Center Thayyiban, Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA) and several academic staff. Among the objectives of sending these undergraduate students is to expose them to the halal industry in Japan and those related to it, to conduct research by relating halal to scientific applications, and finally to gain experience and learning abroad

UNISSA is active in providing its students with various academic excellence programs, especially those involving research. In the increasingly challenging era of globalization, halal is becoming more and more important in the eyes of the world, not only among the Muslim community but also gaining acceptance from the non-Muslim community. Therefore, the University plays an important role in disseminating the concept of halal through research conducted by postgraduate students in accordance with the wishes of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah to make Brunei Darussalam one of the ‘global halal hubs’ ‘.
