This doctoral programme comprises an independent, extensive research project in halal law. Throughout the duration of the candidature, the appointed supervisor(s) and co-supervisor(s) provide supervision. The research will result in a thesis that contributes significantly to the existing body of knowledge on halal science. This area of study focuses on the evolution and current halal laws governing halal products. The significance of this programme compared to other legal studies is that it not only concerns the sanctity of halal products but also the application of Islamic legal principles in the modern halal industry.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

• English Medium

Applicants are required to obtain at least a credit in English Language GCE 'O' Level Examinations, or a grade ‘C’ in IGCSE English (as a Second Language); or a band 6.0 for IELTS, or a minimum overall score of at least 550 for TOEFL.

• Malay Medium

Applicants are required to obtain at least a credit in the GCE 'O' Level Malay Language or its equivalent.

PROGRAMME REQUIREMENT

• The minimum requirement for study in Doctoral of Philosophy is normally a Master Degree or equivalent from an institution recognised by the University Senate.
• Currently enrolled in a Master Programme at UNISSA and recommended by the faculty and approved by the Postgraduate Studies Committee (PSC) to pursue study at PhD or any other Doctoral Degree Programme with the University Senate endorsement; OR
• A Bachelor Degree with First Class Honours from UNISSA or other institutions recognised by the University Senate.

By the end of the programme, each student should be able to:

1. PLO 1 - Ability to apply knowledge of Halal Laws/Management/Science and solve the contemporary issues on Halal.
2. PLO 2 - Ability to conduct research, trainings, workshops, and public speeches as well as perform analysis on Halal issues. (Communication skills and long-life learning)

4. PLO 4 - Ability to use appropriate techniques, skills, and modern scientific tools, instrumentation, software, and hardware necessary for authentication test with an understanding of their limitations. (Technical skills. Practical skill, Psychomotor, digital skills, numeracy)
5. PLO 5 - Ability to design solutions for complex system, component, or process within a defined specification that meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations. (Thinking and scientific approach)
6. PLO 6 - Ability to articulate ideas, communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, on halal science activities with the community. (Professionalism, Value, attitude, and ethics)
