LIBRARY MEMBERSHIP

Internal Membership

All registered students, full-time and part-time academic and non-academic staff of the university are automatically registered as UNISSA library members.

Reciprocal Borrowing Scheme (RBS)

All UNISSA staff and students are qualified for onsite borrowing privileges at UBD, UTB, KUPU SB, POLITEKNIK and IBTE. To be an RBS member, applicants need to register at the website https://rbs.ubd.edu.bn/ under ‘Library User’.

Alumni Membership

Former staff and all UNISSA graduates may apply for alumni membership to get access to some of library collection and services.

External Membership

Non UNISSA members (Non-alumni) may apply for external membership to use UNISSA library.

Special Membership for Persons with Disability

With our ‘Keahlian OKU’, patrons with disability will be given special privileges: 20% off for new membership application as well as additional 20% on overdue charges. Patrons are only required to show their OKU ID card endorsed by KKBS. 

Corporate Membership

Other Institutions who wish to apply for UNISSA Library membership may apply under the Corporate Membership. For local Institutions, Unissa Library charges $500 deposit and an annual fee of $100 and for international Institutions, we charge $1000 deposit and annual fee of $100. Corporate members may borrow up to 5 books for 15 days and use the library facilities with additional charges.

Long term loan (14 days):

General Collection, Multimedia Collection, Mazhab Syafie Collection and International Collection.

Short term loan (3 days):

Second copy pf Reference, Bruneiana, UNISSA Archive and Personal Donation Collection.

For Reference Only:

First copy of Reference, Bruneiana and UNISSA Archive, Journal, Thesis, Examination Paper, Personal Donation 1 (KP1) and Restricted Collection.

Loan

Material loan can be made at the library counter or through self-check-out machine provided.

Return

All loan material can be returned at the circulation counter or through manual and automated book drop machine.

Overdue

Overdue charges must be paid for failure in returning or renewing items on time.

Renewal

Material on loan can be renewed twice. It can be done via the library OPAC.

Reservation

Reservation of books is a service to ensure that a book which is out on will be held for applicant when it is returned.

Interlibrary loan

An interlibrary loan is a service whereby UNISSA Library lends book from other libraries to obtain materials that are not available by UNISSA library users.

Book recommendation

Users are welcome to make a suggestion to purchase book/s for library collection if: The library does not own a copy or more copies needed.

Need help finding books? Our library staff will assist in searching for the books and have them reserved for pick-up later.

Curbside Pick-Up Service

Users that have requested library books online may pick-up or collect books without leaving their car.

Home Delivery Service

Now users may request library books to be delivered to their homes with additional charges.

INFORMATION SERVICES

Books search request

UNISSA library provides assistant for lectures requesting help to search and hold book titles. The retrieved books will be reserved in a holding desk to be collected within 3 days after the search request was made. Only UNISSA lecturers can place a book search request.

Reference assistant

UNISSA library will also provide assistance for those needing further references and additional resources about their research. Those who are keen may make a one-on-one appointment with the reference Librarian via email: library@unissa.edu.bn

New releases

UNISSA library releases new book titles every two weeks, these books are then displayed in the designed book racks located at the Ground Floor or the library. Whereas, UNISSA newest publication are displayed on the Iqra’ book shelf. Patrons can view the new releases via our Facebook and Instagram.

Special Exhibition

To highlight UNISSA library diverse collection, the library organizes special exhibitions to celebrate Brunei Darussalam, special occasions throughout the year. Additionally the library will have special displays of books and collections on relevant topics as well as notable figures in Brunei Darussalam.

UNISSA LIBRARY CLUB ‘NADI MAKTABAH’

Nadi Maktabah, a club for UNISSA students established in 2023 aimed to engage students with UNISSA library activities. Amongst the club activities:
