BRIEF PROFILE:

This programme is necessary to enhance learning, knowledge, and skills in the field of aquaculture in line with the era of industrial revolution 4.0 national needs and developments at the international level. This is to meet the needs of the country and preparation towards Brunei Vision 2035. Studies in aquaculture aim to train aspects of research and innovation as well as towards the improvement and progress of the country’s aquacultural sector and industry. This programme is also part of an initiative that supports the country's aspirations towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as follows:
1. Diversify quality aquaculture products that are accessible for all (Goal 1, No Poverty; Goal 2, Zero Hunger; Goal 3, Good Health and Well Being).
2. Increase and diversify aquaculture products for domestic use and exportation (Goal 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth).
3. Increase high innovation capabilities in the aquaculture sector (Goal 4, Quality Education; Goal 9, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure).
4. Supporting sustainable aspirations towards reducing the effects of climate change (Goal 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities; Goal 12, Responsible Production and Consumption; Goal 13, Climate Action; Goal 14, Life Below Water; Goal 15, Life on Land).

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

English Proficiency

At least Grade C6 in English Language at GCE ‘O’ Level Examination or Grade ‘C’ in IGCSE English (as a Second Language) or an IELTS score of 6.0 or a TOEFL minimum overall score of 550.

Mathematics GCE ‘O’ Level or its equivalent

At least a credit 6 in Mathematics at GCE ‘O’ Level or IGCSE examination;
or
If applicants obtained only D7 in Mathematics at GCE ‘O’ Level or IGCSE examination, they may sit for UNISSA Mathematics Proficiency Test (MPT), in which they must obtain at least grade C6 to fulfil the mathematics requirement.

STPUB Qualification or its equivalent

Passed Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Ugama Brunei (STPUB) examination or its equivalent with an average grade ‘Jayyid’ with at least credit C6 in one science subject (Biology or Chemistry or Physics as approriate) in ’O’ Level; OR

‘A’ Level or its equivalent

A minimum of 160 points for two (2) ‘A’ Level subjects or 200 points for (3) subjects including one (1) relevant subject with a minimum grade ‘D’ . The relevant subjects are Biology, Chemistry, Physics and appropriate ones; OR

International Baccalaureate

A minimum score of 24 points including a minimum of 5, 5, 4 in subjects of higher level related. Subjects related to Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and appropriate ones; OR

Diploma Qualification

A Higher National Diploma (HND) / Foundation Degree / Advanced Diploma Qualification or equivalent from institutions recognised by the University Senate who have obtained at least ‘Merit’ passes in 5 subjects relevant to the degree programme to which admission is being sought may be considered; OR

HNTec

HNTec (Level 4) or equivalent from institution recognised by the University Senate who has obtained at least CGPA ≥ 3.0 (according to the 4.0 point system) in a related field. The relevant fields are Agriculture, Agrotechnology, Aquaculture, Soil Science, Animal Science and appropriate ones.

Agribridge

Achieve the required amount of credit hours and pass all courses with a minimum CGPA of 2.00;

Mature Applicants

At least three (3) years working experience in highly related fields and obtaining 1 A level or at least five (5) years with 4 O levels of suitable
subjects including English and Mathematics.
