SUSTAINABILITY AT UNISSA
As an Islamic university in Brunei Darussalam, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) is committed to support the 2030 the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in line with the national vision, Wawasan Brunei 2035 and Maqasid Shariah through various impactful activities, programmes and services.
WHAT DO WE DO?
In support of achieving the UN SDGs, we aspire to:
- Educate: We raise awareness and foster a sense of responsibility towards our environment and community, in line with Islamic teachings, practices, and values.
- Engage: We get involved with the community and highlight SDG actions and initiatives taken by the University.
- Empower: Through education and engagement, we aspire to empower the community to make an impact for a sustainable future.
Currently, UNISSA incorporates sustainability in its 2024-2028 Strategic Plan, which covers the following five (5) core strategies (CS):
