About the Journal

In line with the role of a research centre, it is time for the Mazhab Shafi’i Research Centre (MSRC), UNISSA to go one step further and expand its research wings by publishing its own journal called Journal of al-Shafi’i: A Refereed International Journal. This effort is a responsibility that must be borne by MSRC as a leading Islamic research agent in Brunei Darussalam in disseminating Islamic research based on the thinking of the Shafi’i school.

Publication of Journal of al-Shafi’i: A Refereed International Journal will be an annual scholarly work published by MSRC with the hope that it can be an impetus to further increase research activities among UNISSA academics as an integration of academic responsibility to serve the community towards the development of Islam in Brunei Darussalam.

In 2021, the name of Journal of al-Shafi’i: A Refereed International Journal was upgraded to an indexed journal and has open access. The name of the existing journal was given an international injection to attract article contributors to pay attention to this journal as well as make a citation in their writing, given the name Al-Shafi’i: International Journal of Islamic Contemporary Studies. The mention of Mazhab Shafi’i is clearly in the name of the journal while the addition of Islamic Contemporary Studies additions is expected to be able to facilitate the search by article contributors for the publication of their articles. The scope of this journal will also expand. With that the potential to get more articles is brighter.
