ONE GARMENT, A MILLION MEANINGS: INFAQ PRELOVED BAJU RAYA 3.0 2026
In conjunction with Ramadhan, the blessed month, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), through the Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre (HTRC), has once again held the Infaq Preloved Baju Raya 3.0 2026 project. This project was organised in collaboration with the Faculty of Halal Science and Sustainable Tourism (FHaSST), UNISSA’s Library and ASEAN Youth Organisation (AYO) – Brunei Chapter, as well as the Women Business Council (WBC). This project is one of the efforts to carry out social responsibility, increase acts of worship, collect rewards, and receive double rewards from Allah SWT in the month of Ramadan. The project was held at Al-Rayyan Hall, UNISSA, Sinaut Campus.
The project was held to ensure that the community always remembers that we are ready to celebrate Eid al-Fitr joyfully and wear new, beautiful clothes, but that a few people cannot afford them. Therefore, through this project, people can donate clothing to those in need. Among the objectives of this programme is to provide preloved clothes in good condition, as well as new items, to those in need for free. Although preloved, this sincere gift is enough to bring joy to the wearer and make their feast all the more meaningful.
The programme was held in three phases, the first of which was the ‘Donation Drive’. From March 9 to March 12, 2026, organisers collected donations of preloved Raya attire, including Cara Melayu, Baju Kurung, scarves, shawls, sinjang, songkok, Jubah, shoes and handbags. This year, the project managed to collect more than 10,000 clothes; hence, the organisers were honoured and appreciated the contribution received.

The second phase is the ‘Baju Raya Giveaway’, which involves the handover of donations held at Al-Rayyan Hall, UNISSA, Sinaut Campus, from March 13 to March 14, 2026. The giveaway was welcoming the public to take as many Raya clothes as they liked.

Next, the third phase is the ‘Baju Raya Drop-Off’, where the preloved Raya clothes are handed over to people in need who have been identified in a few of the areas in Kg Ayer from 16 to 17 March 2026. In addition, the collaboration with the WBC, ‘Baju Raya Drop-Off’, was given to needy people in Kg Banutan on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.

In addition, donating pre-loved clothing serves not only charitable purposes and helps those in need but also contributes to the sustainability of the natural environment. Recycling is one of the efforts that brings us closer to nature. Many are unaware that the natural process of textile decomposition can take considerable time, during which it pollutes the environment by releasing methane gas, a harmful greenhouse gas that significantly contributes to global warming.
Infaq Preloved Baju Raya 3.0 2026 supports the implementation of SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by donating nice preloved baju Raya to those in need, SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by donating the clothes rather than discarding them, SDG 13 (Climate Action) by donating the clothes, which could protect the environment, and lastly SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by collaborating with FHaSST, the Library, AYO and WBC to achieve the objectives of the programme.
