MPC AND UNISSA SIGN MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING TO ADVANCE HALAL LOGISTICS AND FOSTER INDUSTRY-ACADEMIA SYNERGY

Tuesday, 19th May 2026. Muara Port Company Sdn Bhd (MPC) and Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) have officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The strategic framework aims to strengthen cooperation across education, research, innovation, and human capital development, with a pioneering focus on Halal Logistics and Supply Chain Integrity within Brunei Darussalam.

The MoU was signed by Yang Mulia Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Rector of UNISSA, on behalf of the university, while Yang Mulia Mr. Wei Jinfeng, Chief Executive Officer, signed on behalf of MPC. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Yang Mulia Mohd Fazilah bin Haji Md Yassin, Chief Operating Officer of MPC, and Yang Mulia Haji Mohamad Samari bin Haji Mohamad Noh, Acting Registrar of UNISSA.

This partnership marks an important strategic milestone towards strengthening Halal Logistics and Supply Chain Integrity in Brunei Darussalam, directly supporting the nation’s economic diversification agenda under Wawasan Brunei 2035. Through its Faculty of Halal Science and Sustainable Tourism, UNISSA will collaborate with MPC to advance industry-academia solutions in port operations, halal traceability, and cold chain management. Combining MPC’s global operational experience with UNISSA’s academic expertise in halal governance, the collaboration aims to reinforce supply chain assurance and solidify Brunei’s position as a trusted regional trade gateway.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to fostering innovation, strengthening industry–academia linkages, and contributing to the development of a highly skilled and future-ready workforce. It is expected to generate meaningful and long-term benefits for both institutions, while also supporting broader national aspirations in education, industry advancement, and sustainable economic growth.
