520 _aThe book Sharh Shudhur Al-Dhahab fi Ma'rifat Kalam Al-Arab by Ibn Hisham Al-Ansari... Ibn Hisham the Egyptian grammarian, the author of this book (708-761 AH: 1309-1361 AD) is Abdullah Jamal Al-Din Al-Ansari, one of the famous imams of Arabic and grammar. He taught at Al-Azhar, and many Arabic scholars graduated from his teachings. Ibn Khaldun said: “A scholar of Arabic appeared in Egypt, called Ibn Hisham, who was more knowledgeable than Sibawayh... with a great deal of knowledge that testifies to his high standing in the art of grammar. He was growing in his method, and the people of Mosul, who followed in the footsteps of Ibn Jinni and adopted his teaching terminology, produced something amazing, indicating the strength of his talent and knowledge. He left a great legacy in the Arabic sciences, including his book “Al-Shudhur,” which he explained in this book before the reader, “Shudhur Al-Dhahab.” He says about it in the introduction: “This is a book in which I explained my summary called: Shudhur Al-Dhahab, in knowing the speech of the Arabs. I completed its evidence and gathered its strays... I intended in it to clarify the expression, not to hide the allusion. I intended in it to wrap the meanings and sections, not to spread the rules and rulings. I committed myself to the fact that whenever I came across a verse from the evidence of the original, I mentioned its grammar, and whenever I came across a strange word, I added it.” Which removes his astonishment, and whenever I finish a matter, I conclude it with a verse related to it from the verses of the revelation, and I follow it with what it needs in terms of parsing, explanation, and interpretation, and thus I undertake to train the student, and familiarize him with the behavior towards such demands.” Nile and Euphrates
