This manual is mainly intended to provide information to tree plantation planners who are interested in the pulping and papermaking characteristics of the species considered for planting. The characteristics vary somewhat with growth conditions and age of the trees and the values given in the data sheets always refer to a specific sample of wood from a specific plantation. The conclusion drawn in the text from the data sheets pertain to these samples. The reader should accordingly bear in mind that samples form plantations with different growth conditions may exhibit diffeing characteristics, as evidence repeatedly from the date sheets for some species.
