The first part of the book, The Era of Power and Prosperity, addresses the Abbasid Caliphate by exploring the Abbasid movement in terms of its nature, dimensions, and the circumstances surrounding the declaration of the caliphate and state in Kufa and Iraq, along with the direct and indirect reactions that accompanied it. It also highlights the role of the founding Caliph, Abu Ja'far al-Mansur, in laying the foundations of the new state and establishing the city of Madinat al-Salam (Baghdad) as its capital. Furthermore, it covers the period of relative stability and prosperity of the Abbasid state and its domestic and foreign policies during the reigns of Caliph al-Mahdi and his son al-Hadi.
