Subject(s): Summary: Islam and Religious Extremism This book deals with the issue of extremism and fanaticism among some Muslim individuals and groups, which has led them in the past few decades to increase the number of people who disagree with them, whether individuals, groups, governments or societies. Extremism is an ancient trait among humans from which people of different religions and beliefs have not escaped, but it has appeared in the past decades due to ignorance or oppressive political, economic and cultural circumstances, in addition to the psychological conditions that afflict young people with emotional tendencies and idealistic tendencies as a result of these stressful circumstances. The Islamic world is going through a delicate phase in its history at this stage, represented by a vicious attack on it, of a military, political and media nature by the dominant international powers, which want to extend their influence over the Middle East region. The last thing the Islamic world needs at this time is to enter into a violent confrontation between its peoples and governments or an unequal confrontation with the Western world. Weak Islamic governments are not strong enough to confront this confrontation, and it also harms the reputation of Islam and its peoples due to some reckless actions that do not It does not change the troubled reality, but rather makes it worse. We hope that this book will contribute to enlightening Muslim youth about the principles of their religion, which prohibit extremism and fanaticism, and call for facilitation, preaching, and advocacy with wisdom and good advice, and tolerance, dealing with non-Muslims with righteousness and justice, and arguing with them in the best way. Efforts should also be focused on reforming the political, economic, and cultural conditions of the Islamic world using a peaceful, gradual approach, as its effectiveness and usefulness have been proven in many countries.
