Fisheries play an important role in the socio-economic development of all ASEAN countries. while the fisheries industries of the various countries are at different stages of development, some common problems are encountered in post-harvest technology. Recognizing this, the Canadian Government opened discussions between ASEAN-Canada in 1876 which led to the ASEAN-Canada Fisheries Post-Harvest Technology Project. The project commend in 1983, and is currently in its second phase.
