This handbook describes some basic logging and transport operations and systems at various levels of sophistication. The technology has been adapted to some typical conditions in India and covers a period of some 15 years, i.e. to be valid at least until the year 2000. Such a long-term projection was considered necessary due to the heavy and large scale implementation activities required to develop operations with hundreds of thousands of workers involved.
