The book The Birth of Nationalism in the True Meaning of a Farm contains six chapters that overall deal with the development of the novel The Meaning of a Farm from a historical perspective, especially regarding the setting, external factors, themes, plots, forms in the novel and the role of the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka as a publisher. It highlights the early days of the existence of the State of Brunei, followed by its golden age. In this regard, there was awareness of the nationalism movement that eventually led to the independence of Brunei. The struggle of the Kedayan Malay tribe clearly created the birth or awakening of nationalism that can be detected through dialogue, non-dialogue, and themes. The birth of nationalism that is unraveled in this novel has proven that the Brunei people are a people who are willing to fight to free their people and their homeland from the shackles of colonialism.
