The book ISLAMIC THOUGHT: Growth and Development

invites researchers of the history of Islamic thought in particular and readers in general to look back in order to assess the treasures left by past scholars in the matter of purifying the faith. The chaos and diversity of schools of thought that emerged after the era of the Rightly Guided Caliphs almost plunged the people into the abyss of error. The emergence of figures such as Abu Hasan al-'Ashari, Abu Mansur al-Maturidi, and followed by al-Ghazali and several others have succeeded in formulating a prosperous system of faith centered on the Qur'an and the Sunnah, known as the faith of the Ahli Sunnah Wal-Jama'ah. On this basis, the growth of thought further developed until we witnessed the birth of thinker-revellers in every century. Recorded in this book are four stages of thought development starting with the spirit of opposing colonialism, then followed by the need to prepare Muslim workers through organized education, then followed by improving the quality of the people through dakwah and education and the latest is the thought around addressing current issues. Each stage is presented by its own thinker-mujaddid figures. To find out the main points of thought introduced, highlights of the books written by each figure are provided.

The Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College Publishing Center, abbreviated as PP KUPU SB, is now four years old and so far it has published seven academic book titles. In conjunction with the convocation ceremony of the Bachelor's Degree program, which is its inaugural program, PP KUPU SB aims to publish ten titles in 2011. Apart from publishing the writings of its academics, the Center is ready to accept requests from outside parties who are interested in publishing their works in addition to welcoming other publishers to cooperate in efforts to disseminate knowledge to the community.
