The increasing number of zakat recipients and accumulated applications for zakat assistance, large amount of accumulated zakat collections and the small number of capital assistance recipients are among the evidences that the zakat management in Brunei Darussalam needs improvement. The agency which manages the zakat fund needs to be empowered to be able to not only handle the large numbers of applicants but also to reach out to those who really need help in the society.
