Usool at-Tafseer or The Fundamental Principles of Qur'aanic Interpretation deals with the branches of knowledge that are essential to provide an accurate interpretation of the Qur'aanic texts such as Arabic grammar and syntax, Arabic literature and Qur'aanic sciences (Uloom al-Qur'aan). This book addresses the actual step-by-step methodology of interpreting the Qur'aan to ensure that the interpretations are not merely the result of human whims and fancies. Among other major fundamentals, the author also explains the conditions for a Mufassir. Omission of any one of these conditions will more likely to result in a distorted interpretation of the Qur'aan. The Author also cautions against tafseers based solely on linguistic meanings of the words. It is hoped that this book will arm readers with sufficient knowledge so that they will able to differentiate the false interpretations. |
