Menurut sejarah, Brunei Darussalam adalah sebuah negara merdeka yang mempunyai Kerajaan besar, kaya dan kuat. Rakyat dan penduduknya hidup aman dan bersatupadu. Sebab itulah ia terkenal dengan nama jolokan 'Darussalam' yang bererti aman dan makmur. Tetapi oleh kerana sebahagian besar wilayahnya diparih-parih dan dibahai-bahagi (ditakluk) oleh orang Eropah, maka tinggallah Brunei seperti yang ada sekarang ini. |
