Al-Qur'an adalah kitab hidayah yang berisikan instrumen-instrumen tentang akidah, hukum, kisah, janji, ancaman, dan hal lain yang bertujuan untuk menuntun manusia kepada tauhid dan kemaslahatan hidup. Salah satu instrumen tersebut adalah isyarat ilmiah yang terkandung dalam banyak ayat yang tersebar di beberapa surah. Isyarat ilmiah tersebut bersifat mujmal atau global.
