RELIGIOUS MODERATION is the process of understanding and practicing religious teachings fairly and in balance, in order to avoid extreme or excessive behavior when implementing them.
A moderate perspective and attitude in religion is very important for a pluralistic and multicultural society like Indonesia, because only in this way can diversity be addressed wisely, and tolerance and justice can be realized.
Religious moderation does not mean moderating religion, because religion already contains the principle of moderation, namely justice and balance. It is not a religion if it teaches destruction on earth, injustice, and anger. Religion does not need to be moderated anymore. However, the way a person practices religion must always be pushed to the middle path, must always be moderated, because it can turn into extreme, unfair, and even excessive.
This book contains a discussion about what religious moderation is, why we need it, and how to strengthen and implement it, both in personal life, as well as in society, nation and state.
