SERIKANDI GROUP OF COMPANIES AND UNISSA FORGE STRATEGIC ALLIANCE TO STRENGTHEN BRUNEI’S HALAL ECOSYSTEM AND INDUSTRY DIVERSIFICATION
Gadong, Tuesday 19 May 2026 – The Serikandi Group of Companies through its three of
Gadong, 7 May 2026 – Brunei Fertilizer Industries Sdn Bhd and Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali formalised a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding at the university’s theatre today.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Harri Kiiski on behalf of BFI and Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal on behalf of UNISSA.
The collaboration establishes a platform for both parties to strengthen cooperation in research, knowledge sharing, publications and the exchange of relevant resources, further enhancing the connection between academic learning and industry practice.
Through this partnership, students and researchers will gain greater exposure to real industry operations and practical working environments, enabling them to develop industry relevant competencies alongside their academic studies. The initiative supports the aspirations of Wawasan Brunei 2035 in developing a highly skilled, knowledgeable and future ready workforce.

The Memorandum of Understanding also reflects BFI’s continued commitment to nurturing local talent and supporting the development of Brunei Darussalam’s human capital through meaningful engagement with higher education institutions. At the same time, the collaboration will further strengthen UNISSA’s academic and research capabilities through closer industry engagement, contributing to more impactful and relevant learning outcomes.
Both parties also recognise the potential to expand the collaboration into additional areas of mutual interest in the future. The agreement provides a framework for exploring broader opportunities that support innovation, knowledge development and long-term national growth.

This milestone reflects the shared vision of BFI and UNISSA to foster stronger collaboration between industry and academia while contributing towards Brunei Darussalam’s long term socio-economic development.
