Abstract

Zakat is a religious duty to promotes justice, public welfare, and solutions to the problem of poverty, especially in solving the drop-out and education problems in Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam. Therefore, research makes efforts to explain the function of zakat in education development in Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam. In research for data and determine the outcome of the research, researcher used a descriptive analytical approach which take of scientific research data, and described it which related to the definition of zakat and things about education. After that, researcher hold meeting and interview with employees of Rumah Zakat, Al-Azhar Peduli Ummat and Zakat Foundation Brunei Darussalam for getting data about a functions of zakat in education development in Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam. Followed also in the research, a comparative approach in the study, criticism of data and management methods of zakat to know the differences and similarities of the zakat functions in education development in Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam
