Abstract: This study has utilized the phenomenon of synonyms in Arabic and Indonesian with the aims to enhance the teaching of Arabic to Indonesian students. The descriptive methodology was followed in this study. The study was carried on in four chapter preceded by an introduction and followed by a conclusion at the end. The introductory part consists of issues such as justification of the topic selection, research questions, problems and aims, study significance, research methodology and research frame. Chapter one was a discussion on synonyms concept definition, scholars` views towards synonyms, whereas chapter two was about the phenomenon of synonyms in Arabic and Indonesian. In chapter three the similarities and differences between the two languages were ferret out. Relying on the findings of chapter three, the researcher has designed in chapter four teaching units with the aim to enhance the learning of Arabic to Indonesian students. Finally the study ends up with conclusion, suggestion and recommendation. The study finds out that there are similarities and differences between the two languages in the phenomenon of the synonyms. Relying on the findings the researcher has designed teaching units with hope to help in enhancing the learning of this aspect.
