Abstract

This research aimed to publicize the importance of the Unit Censorship And Control Publications in Brunei Darussalam and its contributions and to determine “ Laws of Brunei, Chapter 25, Undesirable Publications” which has been abstracted from the western laws are consistent with the Islamic law in regard to the Promotion Of Virtue And Prevention Of Vice, as well as, to know whether the officers in the Unit Censorship and Control Publications can be considered “Ombudsmen” in the customs of Islamic Law. Through the descriptive approach, analytical method, referring to the Islamic resources, The Brunei Darussalam Laws and the rule of Promotion Of Virtue And Prevention Of Vice, it has been cleared that the Unit Censorship And Control Publications of Islamic Da’wah Center plays major role in implementing its responsibilities taking into consideration Islamic Syariah and conventional laws of the sultanate towards protecting Islam and Muslims. This research also clearly proves the necessity of establishing the Unit Censorship and Control Publications in muslim ummah throughout the Islamic world especially in this modern era.
