Abstract
Islamic finance is a system that operates according to Islamic law (Sharia) principles, which forbid interest (riba) and promote ethical and just financial practices. This thesis aims to study Islamic products in traditional banks in Singapore accurately. It explains that many Islamic financial institutions offer alternative financial products and services in accordance with Islamic law, such as Islamic banks and Islamic insurance, to provide a financial solution that aligns with the beliefs of Muslims. Additionally, it mentions that what is considered forbidden may vary among different Islamic scholars and intellectual schools, thus encouraging individuals to seek religious guidance regarding specific cases. This study investigates how Islamic financial products are used in regular banks in Singapore. It looks at whether customers are aware of these products, how easy they are to use, and how many people are using them. The study also includes interviews with banking experts to get their perspectives. By analyzing data from both Islamic and regular banks, we hope to understand how much Islamic financial products are available, how they're advertised, and how much they're used in regular banks in Singapore. The results of this study could be useful for government officials, banks, and researchers who are interested in promoting Islamic finance in Singapore.
