Abstract
Marriage culture while studying especially among university students although not inherently controversial, still evokes varied perceptions and comments among the students themselves. The issue of marriage often becomes a topic of conversation among students, particularly as they reach their twenties, and it remains a subject of ongoing discussion. Therefore, this paper will delve into this issue based on Islamic views and the opinions of scholars regarding the matter under investigation. This study is also conducted to understand the extent of acceptance and rejection among university students regarding the issue of marriage while studying, and it aims to identify common questions or concerns related to this matter. In this study, the researcher will examine the factors that encourage a student to marry while still studying and the factors that need to be considered before marriage. Additionally, this study will uncover some of the advantages and challenges faced by married students. To achieve this goal, the researcher conducted field research among students of the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, Brunei Darussalam. The first step taken was to distribute questionnaires to approximately 50 students. These questionnaires were designed to collect data on student’s views, attitudes, and experiences related to the issue of marriage while studying at the university. The researcher relied on analytical curriculum to examine the data obtained from the questionnaires, which typically involves steps such as organizing and analyzing data statistically or qualitatively and drawing conclusions or findings from the analysis. The study results indicate that the majority of respondents believe that university is not the ideal time for marriage due to various challenges and the need for personal preparation. They also believe that prioritizing academics and self development is more important at this stage than taking on marital responsibilities. The researcher hopes that this study can provide a comprehensive understanding of student’s perspectives on the issue of marriage among the students at Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, Brunei Darussalam.
