Abstract
Gambling is an activity that has long been debated in the Muslim community regarding its ability from a sharia perspective. In Islam, the practice of gambling is strictly forbidden because it results in widespread evil in society. However, there is an important difference that needs to be understood between gambling as a practice and the tools used to carry out gambling. This paper aims to carefully examine the differences between gambling and gambling tools in Islamic Sharia. By taking into account the basic principles of Islamic jurisprudence and related interpretations, this study will clearly explain how gambling and gambling tools are distinguished in the Sharia view. First of all, this paper will explain the concept of gambling in Islam, including its definition, the bad consequences arising from it, and its laws according to Sharia. Then, the role of gambling tools in carrying out gambling practices, such as dice, cards, and slot machines, will be discussed. An in-depth analysis will be done to distinguish between the illegal gambling law and the law of using gambling tools as an object or instrument in the activity. In addition, this paper will also touch on contemporary issues related to gambling in the modern era, such as online gambling and mobile gambling applications. Emphasis will be given to how Islamic Sharia deals with this phenomenon and laws related to the use of technology in gambling. In conclusion, this paper will summarize the differences between gambling and gambling tools in Islamic Sharia by referring to the relevant principles of fiqh. This is expected to provide a deeper understanding to the Muslim community regarding the laws related to gambling and the tools used to carry it out from a sharia point of view.
