Abstract
Waqf is one of the acts of charity highly demanded by Islam. Like other acts of charity, this practice has been promised with great rewards by Allah SWT to the endowers. These rewards continue to flow to the endowers even after death as long as the endowed assets are utilized by the public. Meanwhile, takaful is a financial instrument that provides Shariah-based protection to individuals or households when facing any financial risks due to accidents, illness, death, and so on. Generally, the types of takaful in Brunei Darussalam consist of family takaful and general takaful protections. These protections apply various Shariah principles such as mudharabah, wakalah, and others. Therefore, this study focuses on the takaful insurance system and its implementation in Brunei Darussalam. The study aims to delve deeper into the existence of the takaful insurance system through waqf in this country. The study found that takaful insurance through waqf is not implemented in Brunei Darussalam. Thus, it is hoped that this study will provide enlightenment and input to takaful companies, specifically to expand the development of the takaful industry in efforts to provide takaful insurance through waqf and introduce its system among the people of Brunei Darussalam.
