Abstract
This thesis explores the crucial role of adhering to legal schools (madhhab) in Islamic jurisprudence. By examining historical developments, doctrinal principles, and contemporary applications, it highlights the relevance and benefits of following a specific legal school within the diverse landscape of Islamic law. Through empirical research and qualitative analysis, the study elucidates the implications of bermazhab (following a legal school) in fostering legal certainty, preserving tradition, and promoting unity within Muslim communities. Additionally, it investigates challenges, misconceptions, and potential solutions regarding the practice of bermazhab in modern contexts, and in this study, the importance of following a religious school of thought, especially among students of Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, will be explained to better understand and practice religion in their daily lives and in shaping their religious identities.
