Abstract
Ikhtilat, or the mixing of men and women in the context of education, has become a hot issue sparking debates in Bruneian society. The presence of male and female students in the same classroom or learning space is often seen as a violation of religious and traditional cultural values. The impact of practicing Ikhtilat in education can bring changes in the aspect of social and cultural in this country. Some effects of Ikhtilat in education in our society have strengthened social interaction between men and women, fostering deeper understanding between the genders. However, at the same time, it can pose risks of inappropriate interactions and lead to discipline and moral issues. Additionally, some may view it as a positive step towards more inclusive and progressive learning, while others may see it as a threat to firmly held religious values. Therefore, research on Ikhtilat in the context of education and its effects on Bruneian society is important to be discussed so that Bruneians are aware and can delve deeper into the matter. Through the results of studies and analysis, various perceptions and suggestions regarding the positive and negative effects of learning in Bruneian society have been provided. Furthermore, these perceptions and suggestions have also offered ways to address ongoing issues and reduce the escalation of cases that have occurred in Brunei Darussalam, which one of the reason is because of the uncontrollable of Ikhtilat.
