Abstract
This study describes the differences between Modern Medical Sharia Law and Traditional Medicine as well as the debate on the importance of understanding these differences in the context of Islamic medicine. In modern society, Modern Medicine is often seen as the main method of health treatment, while Traditional Medicine is often considered a less important alternative. However, in the context of Sharia Law, both types of medicine play an important role and have their own legal basis. Modern Medicine is a combination of science, technology, and medical practice that develops according to scientific and clinical models. It is usually closely related to formal medical institutions such as hospitals and clinics, and follows procedures set by national medical regulatory bodies. On the other hand, Traditional Medicine often involves the use of herbs, prayers, or methods that have been passed down from previous generations. It is often based on certain cultural and religious beliefs. In the context of Shariah Law, both types of medicine have their own laws and regulations that need to be observed. Modern Medicine must ensure that it does not conflict with Islamic principles, such as prohibitions on the use of illegal substances or medical actions that violate Sharia. On the other hand, Traditional Medicine also needs to be aligned with Islamic principles, including in matters such as the use of prayers and practices related to religious beliefs. Therefore, understanding the difference between the Sharia Law of Modern Medicine and Traditional Medicine is important for the medical practitioners, religious experts, and the general public. This will help ensure that the safety and effectiveness of the treatment is maintained without violating religious principles. In addition, a balanced approach between the two types of medicine can provide maximum benefits to individuals and society as a whole.
