Abstract
Halal logistics can be said to be an important component of the halal industry as it ensures the halal integrity of the halal product. This is because Halal is no longer perceived as merely a Muslim obligation or ritual slaughtering mainly because there has been an increase in global demand for halal food which leads to an increasing the demand for halal logistics. However, in Brunei little is known about the Halal Logistics sector, particularly among the consumers. There are three objectives of this study: Firstly, this paper aims to investigate the level of awareness of Muslim consumers towards the concept of Halal Logistics in Brunei Darussalam. Secondly, to study the importance of Halal Logistics based on consumer’s perceptions. Thirdly, to study consumer’s perceptions of factors that could impede Brunei’s Halal Logistic sectors. To achieve the objectives of this research, the researcher used a quantitative method in collecting data. The survey questionnaire was distributed to the general public, with a focus on Muslim consumers in Brunei Darussalam, and results have shown that respondents are highly aware implying that they have a good knowledge and understanding of Halal logistics. However, the minority of respondents are still unaware of certain issues that require attention to increase their awareness of such problems. This research will aid in contributing to a better understanding of consumer perceptions of Halal Logistics in Brunei Darussalam.
