Abstract
Radio has become a very influential electronic medium and is used in various formats for educational and communication purposes. Educational radio became more popular and developed, the so-called "university radio." University Radio is controlled by the Institute of Higher Education as a communication training platform for students. Through program control, ways of communicating, and the use of ever-growing technology, University Radio can help students become more practical presenters. The purpose of this study is to review the extent to which university radio is needed as an educational medium as well as evaluate the appropriate educational elements and communication skills required to control university radio. The research design used in this study is a quantitative and qualitative approach (mixed method). The quantitative study involved 333 UNISSA students, while the qualitative study was conducted through the observation of 11 students. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using Statistical Package for Social Science V26 (SPSS) to test the research hypothesis, while qualitative data were analyzed through rubrics to see student involvement in communication. The results of the study show that university radio or other media platforms are very necessary in UNISSA at this time to train students to communicate effectively and improve educational media and efforts to deliver religious education to the public. Therefore, efforts to develop a radio university at UNISSA need to be continuously improved. In today's media context, university radio can be developed into a new interactive concept with the internet and new technology. University Radio can be realized, especially with the internet and new technologies that can contribute to its development, making it a new interactive concept.
