Abstract
This study seeks to investigate the Ashab Al-Jawiyyin scholars of the Malay Archipelago in the 17th century who had an invaluable influence on the development of Islamic teachings to this day and are valuable to the history of the Malay Archipelago. This article also aims to understand the contributions of the 17th century Ashab Al-jawiyyin scholar in the Malay Archipelago, not only in spreading Islam, but in another aspect. Among the Ashab Al-Jawiyyin scholars in the Malay Archipelago in the 17th century, there were three scholars who were highly valued in history, namely: Nurruddin Ar-Raniri, Abdurrauf As-Sinkili and Yusuf AlMakassari. But this article only focuses on Nuruddin Ar-Raniri who had a huge impact on the Malay Archipelago. Researchers use descriptive histories to achieve research goals. This study contains four chapters. In the first chapter, the researcher will explain the meaning of Ulama and the term Ashab Al-Jawiyyin as well as the duties of Ulama and their role especially in society. In the second chapter, the researcher will discuss about Islam in the Malay Archipelago, as well as the theory of the arrival of Islam in the Malay Archipelago. And also, the researcher elaborates on the strategy and method of introducing Islam in the Malay Archipelago. In the third chapter, the researcher discusses the Ashab Al-Jawiyyin scholars in the 17th century in the Malay Archipelago, especially Nurruddin Ar-Raniri. This chapter also discusses the biography of Nurruddin Ar-Raniri as well as his life journey and his role in Islamic preaching. In the last chapter, the researcher discusses the contribution of Nurruddin Ar-raniri Ulama Ashab Al-Jawiyyin in various aspects, especially in his efforts in the da'wah movement, his works, his studies and in his history. Therefore, the conclusion of this study will mention some influences from the contribution of Nurruddin Ar-Raniri Ulama Ashab Al-Jawiyyin in the 17th century in the Malay Archipelago which gave a valuable history and has an impact until now.
