Abstract
The research contains an introduction, 3 chapters, and a conclusion that discusses the importance of knowing Allah in Islam together with the studies of Aqidah and Islamic Philosophy. In the first chapter, the researcher explains the basic concept of Ma'rifatullah as mentioned in the Holy Qur'an and explained in Prophet Hadith together with the views and methodology of Ahlul Kalam in discussing Ma'rifatullah. While the second chapter concentrates on discussing and understanding Al-Kindi as the first Islamic Philosopher, together with his views and methodology he used in proving the existence of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. In the last chapter, the researcher is making a comparison between the views of Al-Kindi with the views of Ahlussunah Wal Jama'ah and the views of other Islamic Philosophers. Whether they were of the same views or were there differences between them? The researcher is also trying to unveil the genius of Al-Kindi in his division of knowledge, the methods which can lead to Ma'rifatullah, and the proof that the universe was not eternal and is a creation, nonetheless. Al-Kindi believes that the knowledge of the Prophets is of greatest value than the knowledge of philosophers as Prophets are of greatest value than the knowledge of the philosophers as Prophets receive them directly from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, the Great Source, without any intervention. The researcher uses three methods in writing this paper which are the method of analytic, descriptive and critic
