Abstract
This academic exercise, titled “Doctor’s Rights and Responsibilities; According To Islamic Jurisprudence and Laws Of Brunei”. In this academic exercise, the researcher explains about a doctor’s rights and responsibilities as they carry out their duties at work and lives as human beings. The objective of the study is to explain the responsibilities that should be carried out by a doctor whenever he commits a malpractice on his patients apart from punishments designated by law. This academic exercise comprises of four sections. In the first section, the researcher explains about the definition of “rights”, “responsibilities” and “medical aspects”. In the second section, the researcher examines the principles concerning medical negligence and the doctor's liability in tort and contract. In the third section the researcher explains the duties of a doctor when committing malpractices and the relations between the rights of a patient and a doctor. Meanwhile, in the fourth section the researcher explains the duties of a doctor registered with the Brunei Medical Board (BMB) in Brunei Darussalam. The researcher uses inductive method of research in order to gather information on this topic, as well as interview and internet surfing. At the end of the study, the researcher concludes that The Medical Law or Act in Brunei Darussalam should be in line consistently coordinated with the Syariah Law in order to ensure all the doctors deliver their services and responsibilities accordingly towards their patients.
