Abstract
This study aims to analyse the hadeeths narrated by Baqiyyah bin al-Walid in Sunan Nasâ’i and Sunan Ibn Majah. Baqiyyah bin al-Walid is one of the narrators in the Six Canonical Books of hadeeth. However he is also well known as “Mudallis” among the scholars particularly in using “Tadlis al-Taswiyah". Therefore the study will explore his biography by citing scholars’ views in the area of al-Jarh Wa al- Taʻdil. This study is also aims to examine the hadeeth narrated by Baqiyyah bin al-Walid in Sunan Nasâ’i and Sunan Ibn Majah and to identify its status. The researcher conducts the study by using inductive method by referring to all related references and documents; and analytical approach in evaluating the hadeeth based on al-Jarh Wa al-Taʻdil sciences. This study consists of thirty hadeeths: which fifteen hadeeths are from Sunan Nasâ’i, and the investigations found most of the hadeeths were sahih with only few of them were weak (daʻif). In contrary, fifteen other hadeeths that have been analysed in Sunan Ibn Majah were generally weak (daʻif), and only few of them were sahih or hasan.
