The significant result from this study is the religious and Arabic schools have undoubtedly played significant roles toward the Islamic community and civilization. The schools had become the pillars in educating religious education in various levels. In addition, they had given positive impacts on the community such as producing scholars and Jurists as well as writing several religious books, besides becoming the reason for the establishment of Islamic publication and libraries. Those schools also helpe strengthen the Islamic identity of the Muslim in a country of “Negara Zikir” (Nation’s dhizkr) and a country which uphold the Philosophy of Melayu Islam Beraja. However, there were challenges facing the educators especially in Fatani due to the political situations and economy constraint leading to the weakening of the roles of the schools and their impact on the Muslim community.
