Abstract
This study aims to analyze and comprehend the extend of learners ability level in the basic linguistic skills (comprehension and perception) as well as other sub skills in the Arabic schools in Brunei Darussalam. It also aims to know the extent of the suitability of teachers expectations in these skills with comparison to the learners level in achievement test results. The sample of the study has been taken from the male student learners from Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic secondary school for boys. It consists of 68 boys and girls from the preparatory 2nd year. The study uses descriptive analytical method to analyze the data and to specify the learners level in the main and sub linguistic skills. A questionnaire was also used to measure the percentage of the learners in these skills from the point of teachers view. The study is made up of five chapters. The first represents an introduction, the second and the third the theoretical framework. The forth chapter deals with the applications of the study and the fifth the conclusion in which the summary, the findings of the study, suggestions and recommendations were provided.
