Abstract

Ijtihad is the strongest evidence shows that our religion is the only comprehensive religion of the entire eternal human civilization through the ages and generations, and welcomes all the changes and problems arising from the renewal conditions and environment of different human communities in the outskirts of the earth and presents appropriate solutions in all provisions and fixed assets according to The Quran and Sunnah. Therefore, the researcher chose to choose this title, “Contemporary Ijtihad: The Objectives, Terms and Characteristics”, to clarify the terms and characteristics that Islam had determines. The researcher use method Library Research to access all information and references, which relate to this subject. This research contains three chapters and the conclusion. In the first chapter, we will discuss the theory of ijtihad and also the objectives and the importance. Then in the second chapter was exposed the terms and characteristics of ijtihad. In the third chapter, the researcher explain about examples of the contemporary ijtihad in the worship field, family provisions and medical issues. Finally, the conclusion. The researcher concluded that the ijtihad will always be the method of interpreting revelation and adapting it to changes in the Islamic society in its goal to bring justice, peace and truth.
