Abstract
In this academic exercise, the researcher will focus on some of the rules applied on prayer for women. This discussion is very important due to the fact that women nowadays have been neglecting the importance of understanding the proper way of performing their prayers, in order for it to be accepted by Allah. In addition, it is well known that the five times prayer are one of the five pillars of Islam which is compulsory and mandatory to Muslims and will be the first thing being judged in the Hereafter. In this writing, it will be explained in four chapters, in which chapter one will define the meaning of women’s prayer and its understanding. Chapter two will focus on the proper way in performing prayers. While in chapter three, the researcher will elaborate the meaning of ‘aurah’ and its relation with women’s prayer. The last chapter is the main topic which should be learned by women in order to understand the term ‘qadha’ in Islam and to what extend it is applicable. Other related matters will also be explained in this chapter for example the connection of ‘qadha’ with women after their menstruations period known as ‘haidh’ or the period after giving birth known as ‘nifas’ or ‘wiladah’. In this academic writing, the researcher will explain briefly some of the related rules on prayer for women based on the four scholars of thoughts: Hanafi, Maliki, Syafie and Hanbali. The book written by Syafie known as ‘Al-Umm’ will be the main reference as `mazhab Syafie` is practiced and have been made as guidelines in Brunei Darussalam. In conclusion, the purpose of this research is to ensure that Muslim women have wide knowledge about their prayers and realize its importance in their everyday lives.
