Arabic language, once offered as a school subject in primary religious schools in the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam, was then offered exclusively in Arabic schools after the first Arabic school was established in 1966. The school subject was later reintroduced in primary religious schools in 2011 and was approved as a school subject taught for the preparatory year until the sixth year in 2016. Since this reintroduction, no scientific research has yet been conducted to explore the effectiveness of teaching and learning Arabic language in those schools. Thus, the purpose of this research is to explain the effectiveness of Arabic language subject taught during the preparatory, first and second levels. To achieve the objective of the study, the researcher adopted descriptive, analytical, quantitative and qualitative approaches in the form of four (4) types of tools used for data collection, namely questionnaires and interviews with 20 specialised Arabic Language teachers working in Religious Schools in the Sultanate of Brunei as targeted respondents, test papers distributed to 300 students from a number of allocated schools, and finally, evaluation of Arabic language textbooks used in teaching and learning according to the mentioned levels. The results of the research showed that although the effectiveness of the Arabic language subject was at a good level, the subject still needed several improvements especially in terms of content and delivery methods. This is to not only make the subject more attractive to students but also to align with the ability of students of this era and the needs of the world, in addition to the national goal of achieving the status of “Negara Zikir” and “Wawasan 2035” of Brunei Darussalam.

Complaints were made by several English-medium students at Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, Negara Brunei Darussalam. They argued that the Arabic Language curriculum content currently taught in the university does not adequately suit their demands in honing their skills and improving their abilities of said language.
According to these students, certain texts in the book were not interesting, nor realistic or relevant to their everyday situations. As a result, the researcher is prompted to conduct a research regarding this. The three objectives of this research include: firstly, identifying the learning needs of English-medium students at Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA), Negara Brunei Darussalam, who are learning Arabic language;
secondly, confirming a proposed criteria or standards for Arabic language curriculum content which would fulfil the learning needs of these students, and finally, designing Arabic language curriculum content based on those students’ learning needs. To achieve these objectives, surveys had been distributed to three academic staff members and 232 students at UNISSA. The researcher used the quantitative descriptive method and data collected was later analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Software. Results of the study show that the main motivating factor for UNISSA English medium students learning Arabic language was
religious motivation and that the top four learning needs of these students were also religiously related. Secondly, academic staff participants agreed on all the proposed criteria or standards of the Arabic language curriculum content. Finally, it was concluded that academic staff and students achieved a high arithmetic mean score which supported the idea that the proposed curriculum content by the researcher is good and can be adopted as the curriculum content for English-medium students learning Arabic language at UNISSA. Additionally, it was suggested that students who have Arabic language background and those who do not have that background should not be combined in the same class in order to ensure that language learning
remains effective.

Hajah Nor Hayati binti Haji Abdul Karim
A poem is the art of discovering the aesthetic and emotional aspects of life and expressing them in syntactic and rhyming words. The status of Arabic poetry has remained high since the pre-Islamic era until nowadays. With the fact that it has spread throughout the world, including to the Malay Archipelago, many non-Arabic-speaking students learn Arabic poems because they see it as a different art form and a beautiful style. They established Islamic scholars, writers, and poets in their countries and studied them diligently. From this establishment, the Pre is a deep relationship between Arabic and Malay poetry because the Arabic language is the language of Islam. But the history of the emergence of Arabic poetry in the Malay Archipelago is still unknown. The researcher chose Malay Islamic scholars' poems as the most suitable analytical model, to show the influence of Arabic poetry on their poems. To that end, the researcher has attempted, to the best of her ability, to produce a well-documented research analysis exposing these interesting facts about local people's concerns since the advent of Islam. The researcher then identified six selected scholars, such as Sheikh Hamzah Fansuri of Aceh, Indonesia; Raja Ali Haji bin Raja Haji Ahmad of Riau; Sheikh Ahmad Fathoni of Pattani, Thailand; Pehin Siraja Khatib Abdul Razak bin Hasanuddin of Brunei; Maulana Omar Ali Saifuddin of Brunei; and Ahmad Ya’akob Al-Johori of Malaysia. Using a descriptive and comparative analysis approach, the researcher conducted experiments to identify how Arabic poetry inspired them. As a result, the researcher
made several discoveries, including the importance of Arabic poetry in developing Islamic legacies in the Malay Archipelago and its Islamic implementation, which includes artistic and aesthetic interpretations, as well as revealing that Arabic poetry was one of the teaching methods for Malay Islamic education students, and even discovering a large number of tombstones engraved with Arabic poetry, on which the researcher stood during her field study at several Muslim cemeteries both inside and outside the country, as well as reviewing the sources and references that related to these study issues. The impact of Arabic poetry on the selected Ulama is detected from the perspective of education in which Arabic poetry is used as the main method of teaching Malay students.

This research aims to identify the effectiveness of the morphology teaching curriculum at Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University in the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam. This research is a descriptive and evaluative study. The researcher distributed a questionnaire to all fifty-five students who had studied morphology at Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University in the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam in 2019 and 2020. The introduction is presented in chapter one, and the literature review is written in chapter two, which is divided into two sections: morphology and curriculum. In chapter three, the researcher described and evaluated the course book
taught in the bachelor's degree program. In Chapter 4, the researcher presented the research methodology and procedures between the research methodology, sample characteristics, and a tool for collecting the data for this research. Then the researcher analysed that in a quantitative, descriptive, and evaluative manner in Chapter 5, in addition to identifying positive and negative aspects of the curriculum, to get the
expected results. The study concluded the research by summarising it into a set of findings and recommendations, in addition to making a recommendation to improve the positive aspects and revise the negative aspects that would help the development of the morphology teaching curriculum at that university. This research has shown the results that were reviewed at the conclusion. The most important of them are the
objectives of the curriculum, teaching methods, and teaching aids, which do not need modification but need to be strengthened and sustained in the teaching and learning process as planned in the curriculum followed, while the content of the curriculum needs to be modified and maintained, and the evaluation system needs to be reviewed and updated continuously.
